Maintaining The Body's (pH)

Volume 3

Any trained naturopath will tell you maintaining the body's pH is key to remaining healthy.  So let's look at just what a healthy pH for saliva and urine really is.

First, a dangerous range would be any reading of a pH reading from 4.5 to 5.75. This would be indicative of very poor digestion and assimilation of vital minerals. A possible disease state, or the the terrain for one, would also be possible when there is a dangerously low pH.  Immediate changes must be made in your diet, and you should seek the help a health practitioner for mineral supplementation.

Unhealthy range of your pH would constitute a pH of 6.0 up to 6.25.  This means a dietary change should be considered. The blood type diet sheets, you received at your initial consult, cover the foods (in the beneficial column) that keep your pH balanced.  If you eat the foods in the avoid column, you may become more acidic. These sheets are based on the blood type diet research by author, Dr. Peter D'Amato, N.D.

A pH of 6.5 to 6.75 indicates the need for some slight dietary adjustments.  Here is where your blood type diet charts really come in handy.  Simply try to eat more food from the beneficial column, and less from the neutral column, and your pH will should improve.

The optimal range for pH, over a 24 hour period would be 7.0 to 7.5.  After eating, your pH should go up to at least the 7.0 or higher range. Those with a pH range of 7.0 to 7.5 are usually not candidates for illness.  Remember, a healthy pH is a healthy terrain.  Think of your body as a garden.  If the soil has the correct pH, the seeds planted will provide  beautiful, healthy vegetation.  If the soil is not pH balanced, your garden will have weeds, insects, parasites, and poor vegetation.

Remember the word balanced, because if you are too alkaline, this is also unhealthy.  That would constitute a pH of 8.0 to 9.0. Extremes in pH, either too high or too low, indicate health issues that need to be resolved soon.  Degenerative diseases cannot thrive where pH is in the healthy range of 7.0 to 7.5.  Again, key to maintaining optimal health, with no aches, pains, or dips in energy.

Returning to a balanced pH is a process, and will not occur over night.  Diet and supplementation are necessary. Drinking soda pop is very much discouraged, as it will lower pH, and take days to return to normal balance. Sugar laden foods will also make your body more acidic.
