We all know flu season is upon us. Be aware there are alternatives to medicinal antibiotics.  In our alternative medicine tool box, natural health practitioners have natural antibiotics, natural anti-fungals, and natural anti-viral's, none of which create distress to the gastrointestinal tract, since they target just the bad bacteria, fungus, or virus. 

          Many of you recall your physician writing up a cocktail variety of antibiotics, for every diagnosed sinus infection. Curiously, a recent scientific study has revealed use of medicinal antibiotics, for sinus infections, may be ineffective.  Medical professionals had been advised to follow a much more conservative approach in prescribing antibiotics, because of the "super bugs". 

          "Super bugs" have resulted from the overuse of medicinal antibiotics, which unfortunately continues. These drug resistant "super bugs"are a direct result of antibiotics being prescribed for every perceivable infection.  Not only do antibiotics kill off the good bacteria, as well as the bad, they also drive the immune function in a downward spiral. This is perhaps the main reason secondary infections result after antibiotic use.      

        Once the good bacteria, in your gastrointestinal tract, has been destroyed, you are defenseless to fight infection, such as candida/fungal overgrowth. Without a good pro biotic to rebuild the flora in the gut, candida overgrowth can create a new infection, which may be very difficult to eradicate.
